Cinco de Mayo de Jerky - The Jerkarita

    27 Apr 18

Margaritas are cool. Jerky is cool. Margaritas aaaand jerky...

No seriously it's pretty f-ing awsome. Here's how to make one of these bad boys.

We like using Fedencio Mezcal for this drink because it is mild on the smoke, which balances nicely with the jerky. The jerky flavor comes through in the Jerky Symple Syrup, and when combined with the Jerky-Salt rim, the drink is perfect. Just enough smoke, savory, sweet and salty.

    Ingredients

    Jerkarita:

    Jerky Simple Syrup:

    • 1 cup sugar
    • 1 cup water
    • 0.5 ounces Original Jerky

    Jerky-Salt:

    Directions

    Jerky Simple Syrup:

Combine sugar and water in a medium saucepan. Stir sugar and water over low heat until sugar dissolves. Increase heat to bring water to a boil and add jerky, stirring thoroughly. Reduce heat and let simmer for three minutes. Remove from heat and remove jerky. Pour syrup through a strainer to filter out remaining jerky pieces. Store refrigerated either in a bowl or funnel into a bottle.

    Jerky-Salt:

Add equal parts Original Jerky and Maldon Smoked Salt to a food processor or blender. Blend the mixture until fine.

    Jerkarita:

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add mezcal, lime juice and Jerky Simple Syrup. Cover and shake until mixed and chilled, about 30 seconds. Place Jerky-Salt on a plate. Place the rim of your cocktail glass into the mixture to rim the edge. Strain Jerkarita into the glass. Garnish with the most delicious and tender jerky ever made.
